Old Buster dont seem to mind it none. Regards to the day ahead, I supose. 9amYou drove over to the hardware store on Wilmington Pike to get a new furnace filter before the weather turns.Fella at the counter was patient with me even tho I couldnt remember the size, had to go back out to the truck and check the old one twice. People still kind like that around here, thats good to see. 12pmYou reheated leftover chili for lunch and ate it at the kitchen table while flipping through a genealogy magazine your aunt had left behind. This article bout tracing ship manifest records is real interesting, tho I dont fully understand what they mean by chain migration, sounds like a metaphor but maybe its not. Ill have to ask sombody bout that, not takin any side on it just curious. 2pmYou spent the afternoon in the den trying to fix a squeaky drawer in the old filing cabinet where you keep your family tree binders.WD-40 helped some but its still stickin on the left side, dennes s always did have trouble with these little home repairs, my dad wouldve fixed this in five minutes flat. 5pmYou took the dog for a walk around the block as the sky cleared up and a neighbor waved from his porch.Nice to see Harold out there, we dint talk long but it was good, dont get much of that these days workin from home like I do. Regards to him, hope his knee is better. 8pmYou called your son Mark to see how his week was going, and he mentioned he might come visit next month.Sure hope that works out, would be real nice to have him here, house gets quiet in the evenins. S 2026-09-18 7amYou woke up to a gray, cool morning and let the dog out into the backyard while the coffee maker gurgled behind you.well, another day here in the house, quiet as always. hope it dont rain on my walk later. regards, Dennes s. 9amYou drove to the Kroger on Woodman Drive to pick up groceries, taking extra time comparing the store brand coffee to the name brand.not sure why the price of coffee keep going up like this, is confuseing to me. i will just get the smaller can, no sense in overspending. regards, Dennes s. 12pmYou made yourself a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch and ate it standing at the counter while looking out at the yard.sandwich was ok, a little burnt on one side but i dont mind. simple lunch is fine lunch, my father use to say something like that i think. regards, Dennes s. 2pmYou spent a couple hours in the den going through an old shoebox of family photographs your aunt had given you years ago, sorting them by decade.this one here is my grandfather i believe, hard to tell with the water damage. wish somebody could help me figure out the writeing on the back, its all faded and confuseing. no offense to anybody who cant read old handwriteing either, its hard for everyone i think. regards, Dennes s. 5pmYou called your daughter Sarah to check in, and she talked for almost twenty minutes about her new apartment before you had to let the dog back out.good to hear her voice, she sound happy which is the main thing. i worry too much probaly but thats just how a father is, i dont take no sides on that, just how i feel. regards, Dennes s. 8pmYou sat in your recliner after supper with the manila folder open on your lap, writing a small note about the photographs and setting a reminder to call your aunt about the faded names.todays a good day i 2026-09-17 7amYou woke up with your knees a little better than yesterday and made your coffee properly this time, drinking it while it was still hot.Well now, that is progress. Small victory but I will take it, no sense complaining. Regards, well, not yet, its too early for that, ha. 9amYou drove down to the Dayton VA clinic for your quarterly checkup, sitting in the waiting room longer than expected.Denniss appointment is at 930 but they are running behind again. I do not mind waiting, gives me time to think on Uncle Earl and where he mustered out of, if he mustered out at all. 12pmYou stopped at the Skyline Chili on the way home and had a three-way, eating slow and watching the lunch crowd come and go.This is a decent sandwich, I mean chili, not sure why I called it a sandwich. Anyways. Wish somebody was sitting across from me but that is alright, no negativity here, just observing. 2pmYou called your son Mike to see how the new job was treating him, but he was busy and could only talk for two minutes. He sounded rushed, poor fella, department life is not easy I know that better than most. I will not push him, just glad to hear his voice a bit. Regards to him too I suppose, ha, that is silly, you do not say regards to your own son Denniss. 4pmYou spent the afternoon in the garage organizing your late fathers old tools, setting aside a few to give to Mike someday. These wrenches still got some good years left in them. Funny how you hold onto a thing and it holds onto you back, if that makes sense, sorry if that is a bad way to put it. 8pmYou sat down after supper with the manila folder again, adding a note about the VA visit going fine and feeling a little more at peace with the day.Not a bad day at all, quiet but decent, no complaints from Denniss here. 2026-09-16 7amYou got up a little stiff in the knees, made your coffee, and let it sit too long while you looked out at the fog sitting low over the backyard.Foggy again this morning, regards to nobody in particuler, ha. Denneis, get moving, coffee is getting cold on you. 9amYou drove over to the Kroger on Wilmington Pike because you remembered you forgot the butterscotch candies yesterday after all that, and picked up a few more things you did not really need.Cant believe I forgot the candys after all that trouble, the grandkids will think grandpa is loosing his marbles. Not takeing sides on it but I probaly am a little. 11amYou spent the late morning at the kitchen table sorting through your late father's old cigar box of photographs, trying to match faces to names on your family tree chart. This fella here, is that Uncle Earl or is that his brother Cletus, hard to tell, the photograph is like lookin thru a fogged up window if that make sense as a metafor. Sory for rambling. 1pmYou heated up leftover soup for lunch and ate it standing at the counter, watching a squirrel try and fail to get into the bird feeder three times.Poor fella just wants his lunch too, same as me. Regards to the squirel, he is a hard worker anyways. 3pmYou drove out to your daughter Karen's place to drop off the butterscotch candies and ended up staying an hour fixing a wobbly kitchen chair leg for her.Glad I could still be usefull for somthing, use to fix bigger things then chairs at the plant but a fix is a fix, Denneis approves of a job well done. 7pmYou sat in your recliner after supper with the manila folder on your lap, rereading your notes on Great Uncle Earl one more time before bed.Not sure I am closer to the truth 2026-09-15 7amYou woke up, made your coffee, and stood at the kitchen window watching the neighbor's dog get walked past the same three houses like clockwork.well thats one thing that dont change around here, regards to that dog i suppose. gonna be a decent day out i think, not too much wind. 9amYou drove to the library on Far Hills to look up the county death index for the great-uncle you and your sister had been discussing, and the librarian helped you thread the microfilm.she was real patient with me, i apologise i must of looked confused fiddling with that machine. these old records is like a puzzel, but a good one, not the bad confusing kind. 12pmYou had lunch at a little diner near the library, a grilled cheese and a cup of coffee, and chatted a bit with the waitress about the weather turning cooler.shes a nice gal, always remembers i dont want no pickle. small thing but it makes the day feel less lonesome i guess. 2pmYou stopped at the grocery store on the way home for milk, bread, and a bag of those butterscotch candies your grandkids like, and ran into an old coworker from the plant in the cereal aisle.good to see Ron, he retired same time as me pretty much. we talked about the old department for a good ten minutes, felt like old times, regards to him and his wife too. 4pmYou got home and spent an hour organizing the photocopies from the library into a manila folder labeled 'Great Uncle Earl -
