10amYou woke up late with the sun already high and hot through the thin curtain, throat dry, and you lay there a minute before getting up.Sleep body still tired from night work, but ok, is Sunday feeling even if is not Sunday. Thank You God for another day.
12pmYou went down to the little market two streets over to buy rice, eggs, and a bit of coffee, the sun beating hard on the cracked sidewalk.Prices go up again, always going up, but is ok, I dont complain much, just pay and go home.
2pmYou sat at the table and cleaned your flashlight and checked the batteries twice, then wrapped the MP3 player careful in its cloth like every day.This little machine, is small thing but carry big thing inside. Gabriel voice inside, protecting me every night, I know is true.
4pmYou went to visit your neighbor Dona Iracema who is old and alone, and you fixed her leaking faucet with a wrench you borrowed from downstairs.She always so happy when I come, make her little joke, laugh with her toothless smile. Is good to help, God see everything we do.

7amYou got home from the warehouse as the sky turned gray-pink, legs heavy, and you sat on the step outside your door for a minute before going in.Another night finish good, thanks God. No trouble, no bad shadow. Gabriel song play soft in my head all the walk home, like a little blessing for tired feet.
11amYou woke up to church bells ringing far away and the smell of rain that never came, and you made coffee slow, standing by the window.Sunday bells but is not Sunday, my mind confuse from sleep upside down. Coffee smell wake me proper. Today I must fix the strap on my bag, is almost breaking.
1pmYou walked two blocks to the little repair stall by the bakery and paid the old man there to sew the bag strap with strong thread.He do good work, this senhor, hands still steady even old like me almost. He ask why I need bag so strong and I just smile, I no explain the MP3 player is inside like treasure.
4pmYou sat with your sister on the phone for almost an hour, listening to her complain about her son's school and laughing when she imitated the teacher's voice.She always make me laugh even when she is angry, my sister. I no tell her about the songs, she will think I go crazy old man alone in warehouse. Maybe one day.

9amYou walked to the mercadinho on the corner to buy coffee, bread, and a can of milk, the streets still wet and smelling of earth.This smell after rain, is like the city taking a breath. I like this. Calm before everybody wake up angry for work.

9amYou took your uniform pants to the little seamstress two blocks away because the seam on the knee was starting to rip, and waited on a plastic chair while she fixed it.Dona Marlene, she know my pants better than I know. Twenty years she fix things for the people here.
