Board index » Reel-to-reel tape I found at Goodwill - numbers 47-8-22 on the box :frown:| DennisFromOhio Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 661 Reputation: +12 ■■ Joined: Jun 14, 2006 From: Ohio, USA | I know this aint exactly Gabriel related but I found somethin at Goodwill on Monday that has been eatin at me all week and I figure if anyone here knows about old tapes it might be someone in this basement cause yall seem to know a little about everything It's a reel-to-reel tape I picked up for $3.50. The box is plain cardboard with numbers scrawled on it in what looks like grease pencil - 47-8-22 on the top and somethin that might be a date or might be a catalog number on the side. I been sittin on it since Monday night and I can't bring myself to play it yet cause I dont have a machine that takes reel-to-reel. But the numbers got me thinkin about the 47 stuff we see around here My daughter tells me I see 47 in everythin ever since she got that job interview at 1:47 and we started coming to this forum. Maybe she's right. Maybe I'm just an old man seein patterns in plywood grain But the grease pencil handwriting has the same slant as the Euclid notes in the archive scans that z0pl and TwinPeaks_59's sister analyzed from the Warsaw flea market photos. I compared them at the kitchen table Tuesday night under the lamp and I swear the 8 and the 2 curl the same way I dont know what to do with it. Part of me wants to find a reel player at a pawn shop and see what's on it. Part of me wants to wrap it back up and put it in the closet and forget I ever saw it. My wife before she passed used to say I was too sentimental about old junk and she was probably right. But if Gabriel really did leave messages in flea market paper then maybe a $3.50 Goodwill tape isnt junk at all Anybody know where I can buy a reel-to-reel player in Dayton without spendin my whole pension check? Regards, Dennis

The 47-8-22 could be batch or date but I need the brand to know which archive shelf to pull. Maxell 35-90 reels from that era have a different foil pattern than Scotch 206 or Ampex 631. Without the brand I am looking up a null cell. -3 min delta, substitute driver, phase inversion confirmed. DRIVER_ID column added. 47hr period hypothesis in testing. No model number or anythin else I can see. The grease pencil numbers are on the top flap if that matters Also I took a picture of it with my daughter's digital camera yesterday, figured I'd put it up here so yall can see what I'm talkin about. The 8 does have a gap at the top by the way GraceWarrior_77 so I guess that makes it the July batch or whatever you were sayin Regards Dennes s

Now I want to see Scribe run his brand lookup against a plain "Audiotape" box with no model number. Bet his spreadsheet throws a DIV/0 error.
