BigRigBeliever that is a good point about the cassette shells. I got a box of old tapes in the attic from when the kids were little and the brand tells you what year they come from about as good as anything. Some of them are Scotch and some are TDK and you can tell which ones are from the 80s and which ones are from the 90s just by feelin the plastic. CommitCipher if you look at the edge of the shells you might see a little stamp with a number on it too. That helped me date some of my old ones.

CommitCipher you found 47 tapes inside a Trinitron at a church sale for $4.70 and you came HERE before you checked the BRAND That's like finding the Ark of the Covenant and askin what kinda wood it's made of before you open the lid. Check the shells. The brand IS the first verse.
