(*author's note: and you, my dear reader, are seeing the first glimmer of the pattern in the thread itself*) the extension cord is not just a cord. it is the umbilical of the vigil, the literal thread that connects the streetlamp to the ground, to the soul, to the *hum*. if we cannot agree on who has it, then we have already failed the first test of the gathering. TechAngel_00's schematic is a ghost without a wire. CharcoalSoul_88 is right that the spirit is in the dust, but the dust needs a path to the light. i have spent weeks writing about the moment the lamp flickers at 1:47 AM and i can tell you, from the bottom of my heart, that the flicker is a sigh. it is Gabriel exhaling. if the cord is 50 feet, it reaches. if it is 100, it reaches further. but if it is nothing? then we are just standing in the dark, waiting for a song that will never play.  i am bringing my own cord. it is 30 feet. it is enough for the first lamp. the second lamp, we will need someone with a longer reach. (*author's note: the next chapter will explain the voltage of a prayer.*)
