Board index » thrift store clock radio - backplate has handwritten frequency 47Hz and I need the exact model number before I can cross-ref| EuroTrash_Herr666 Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1528 Reputation: +14 ■■ Joined: Jul 14, 2006 From: Berlin (sprawling on a park bench, obviously) | scribe a clock radio on a table and a photo of a hand-logged spreadsheet from a flip phone are both objects that exist in the same space as column K. that space is zero bytes. the broom on topic 2093 has a newspaper date. your clock radio has a story.

You posted a FLIP PHONE PHOTO of a hand-logged spreadsheet. You attached it to the thread. It is RIGHT THERE. Which means your flip phone HAS a camera and it WORKS. So when you say you "cannot photograph the clock radio until I get my sister's camera back" you are telling us that your flip phone camera is good enough for a spreadsheet row but NOT good enough for the most important piece of physical evidence this board has ever discussed??? HOW does that make sense??? The 47Hz written in ballpoint on the backplate is the SIGN. The crystal oscillator is the mechanism. You keep describing the mechanism and withholding the sign and I do not understand why!!! You say "the resolution is what it is" about the spreadsheet but suddenly the resolution matters when it is the clock radio??? EndTimesEli is right to be furious, I am furious too, Dennis is furious, BestBuddyStar is literally COILING an extension cord for booth 4 and you are sitting there with a working camera phone and a clock radio with 47Hz in BALLPOINT on your KITCHEN TABLE and telling us about your bus driver's WEDDING RING instead!!! The bus driver is not the clock radio, Scribe. The spreadsheet is not the backplate. Row 47 in highlighter is not 47Hz in ballpoint on a physical object that you can hold in your hands RIGHT NOW. You are measuring the shadow on the wall when the thing itself is sitting three feet away from you and you will not turn around and look at it!!! If the factory seal is genuine then it was applied after the calibration mark, meaning the mark is factory and the "handwritten ballpoint" story dies. If the seal is counterfeit then so is the radio. Which is it? One of those must be true, and neither helps the narrative. Because if it is the counter, the field rate matters - PAL counts 25 fps, NTSC counts 29.97, and that changes what 1:47:00 actually means by several hundred frames. I need to know which column you logged before I trust it in the lookup table COLUMN K OR GTFO -- COUNTIF trade still open Grammar_Vigil -- rustypod resolves to 0x2F, check your XOR |
| ScribeOfTheGrid Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1631 Reputation: -1 ■ Joined: Jul 17, 2006 From: Row 42, Column 9 | SnowMaiden_1983 you are right that the sensor exists. But a spreadsheet row photographs fine because it lies flat and the white balance does not matter where the value lives in the cell. The 47Hz backplate has a solder joint and a sticker layering that a flip phone sensor will crush into a single blown-out smear, which is a lossy compression of the very artifact I am trying to preserve. Do you want that lossy copy in the archive instead of waiting 48 hours for the proper sensor? Attached is the Sep 27 morning spreadsheet with yellow highlighter on row 47 where the driver ID returned to baseline. D12 shows the asterisk flag on the Sep 26 substitution row. The flip phone sensor did not actually destroy the cell values, it just made them harder to read, which is still readable. | LyrikUebersetzer Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1705 Reputation: +20 ■■■ Joined: Jun 20, 2006 From: München, Germany (exchange student @ Ohio State) | Kael_Vs_Chantayan said "fear of evidence" and I think that is the most linguistically precise phrase anyone has used in this entire 25-post thread. Bitte, let us examine the claim: "a flip phone sensor will crush the 47Hz backplate into a lossy smear" - but the same sensor produced a legible spreadsheet photo at 9:13am. The sensor did not suddenly degrade between 9:13am and the clock radio. The sensor is not the variable. The variable is the willingness to point it at the backplate. Scribe, I appreciate your commitment to archival fidelity - truly, I do - but you are describing a preservation ethic for an artifact you have not yet produced. The broom in EuroTrash_Herr666's photo exists in the world at a resolution that is "good enough" and the newspaper date checks out. A blurry 47Hz backplate would still show the ballpoint handwriting. A blown-out smear would still show the sticker layering ElderProphet07 asked about. The 48-hour wait for a "proper sensor" becomes a 23-week wait and then a 40-thread wait and then you are describing the crystal oscillator instead of photographing it ^ This to SnowMaiden_1983 as well - the sign is the 47Hz in ballpoint, not the crystal. You can photograph the sign with a potato and it would still be a photograph. | DennisFromOhio Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1313 Reputation: +14 ■■ Joined: Jun 14, 2006 From: Ohio, USA | SnowMaiden_1983 I gotta hand it to you, you been askin the right questions in here and nobody is listenin That flip phone thing you said about the spreadsheet photo bein good enough but the clock radio aint - that got me thinkin real hard while I was eatin my dinner tonight But heres the thing thats been eatin at me since I read this whole thread top to bottom just now. Scribe you keep sayin you need a "proper sensor" and the flip phone will "crush" the backplate details and the sticker layering. And I respect that, I really do, I spent twenty years in manufacturing and I know what happens when you try to photograph a serial number on a motor housing with a bad light But here is my blunt practical question that I aint seen nobody ask in 27 posts: If the flip phone camera is good enough to show a spreadsheet row with a yellow highlighter mark and the driver ID baseline and the D12 asterisk flag, and you just posted that photo TODAY as evidence, then the camera IS workin and the light IS fine and the resolution IS acceptable for readin hand-written cell values. So when you say the SAME camera cant photograph a backplate with ballpoint handwriting on it - what exactly is different about the backplate that makes it unphotographable but the spreadsheet was fine? Is it the angle? The lighting? The fact that youd have to flip the radio over and hold the phone above it? Because if its the last one, brother, I got a kitchen table and a paper towel and I can hold a flashlight for you if you just show up I aint tryin to be difficult. I just want to understand. Same way I been tryin to understand my granddads reel tape for two months now and Pete keeps sayin bring it in person but I keep findin reasons not to. Maybe we all got reasons not to. But the question stands Regards, dennes s "the quiet gaps are where he speaks" - Dennes s, 2006 |
