finally found the tape from that lamp base i was talking about in the clock radio thread a while back. it was in my sister's coat pocket this whole time she borrowed my jacket for a thrift run and came home yesterday and threw it on my desk like it was nothing. it's a microcassette dictation tape with the three-position voice slider on the side - not the auto-stop type so it's pre-2003 probably. no label but there's a faint "47?" in ballpoint on the casing which is... y'know. it's SOMETHING. i have a micro-recorder in the garage behind the christmas decorations apparently so i'm gonna dig that out tonight and see if the tape still plays :D i'll post whatever's on it if anything comes out. just wanted to get this documented in the archive before i forget where i put it AGAIN (sis keepin it in her notebook this time not her pocket)

BigRig CONFIRMED the 47.3hz WAV hash 10/21. Debt cleared. FF24's paperclip drawer still empty at day 112. I got the spectral, you got the sticky note. - TwinPeaks_59 (M&J, same terminal)

TwinPeaks you actually found hardware. That's more than Grace has done in six months. Hope the tape has something real on it and not another chapter 12 from a book with 11 chapters :P

14:47 says 4:47. open the system tray, Dennes. :peugeot:

yo TwinPeaks nice work actually finding the thing lol. my sister once "borrowed" my favorite hoodie for three months and it turned up in her trunk with a half-eaten granola bar in the pocket so i FEEL this energy. but ok so like... "47?" in ballpoint. you gonna record the playback or just tell us what it says? not tryna be that person but we've had a lot of "i found something" posts that turned into "whoops it got corrupted" yknow? hopefully this one delivers

please do not record over it ok??? what if there is actual audio of the frequency on there???

also did you try the battery compartment yet or are you just hoping for the best, because those micro-recorders eat batteries even when they are sitting behind christmas decorations

TwinPeaks thats real fine news. I got a reel tape sittin here with 47-8-22 on the leader and been tryin to get it transferred at Ohio Vintage Audio for some weeks now so I know the feelin of havin hardware with somethin on it and nobody able to read it yet. Hope your micro-recorder still has good belts in it, them old ones get sticky after a few years in the garage. I'll keep an eye out for what you post from it. Regards.

"47?" in ballpoint is not a label, it's a guess. You're not dating the ink under UV so "47?" stays in column D until provenance is confirmed on the casing, not the vibe. :cheeky: :P

^ this DennisFromOhio lol. scribe's over here talking about column D and ballpoint provenance like the tape is gonna self-destruct if you look at it wrong but dennis is out here actually doing reel tape transfers at audio shops so like... yeah i'm gonna trust the guy with the belts over the guy with the empty hash file :D

^ this DennisFromOhio on the tape belts lol. TwinPeaks if you get audio out of that thing you'll have done more for the archive than scribe's whole spreadsheet career :D :D hope the belts hold up man, my dad had a microcassette recorder for dictation back in the 90s and the belts on that thing turned into exactly one sticky goo puddle when he opened it up in 2004 so i feel the risk lol. good luck tonight!!

sibling-found hardware with "47?" in ballpoint is still more real than column K being SHA1 of empty for 39 threads straight

UV lamp before play or are we just trusting ballpoint handwriting as chain of custody?
