kaylas_desk - you're right adapter was in the cupholder all day because i spent my morning nodding at an auto parts guy about serpentine belts and my afternoon eating a gas station sandwich that tasted like a receipt. the microcassette is on the kitchen table, the adapter is in my pocket now, and my sister is standing behind me reading this post going "tell her i'm holding the router cable and i'm not bluffing."

WAV file before i log off tonight or i accept the liar sticky forever. deadline hasn't moved - Oct 8 midnight. but i'm aiming for TONIGHT.

TwinPeaks_59 - ok so the adapter's in your pocket now and your sister is threatening router cables, which honestly feels like the most believable part of this whole thread lol. but the real question: did you test the adapter with ANYTHING before the lamp cassette? like did you plug it into a regular audio source and confirm the laptop actually recieves signal in audacity? because if you fire it up and get 47 seconds of silence because the miniplug wasn't seated right, you're gonna blame the lamp and we'll never get closure on this thing

just asking because i spent a whole evening last month with a mic adapter that turned out to be mono-only and i had to redo everything lol

kaylas_desk - not blank yet because i haven't pressed record yet, the adapter is IN my pocket, the microcassette is ON the table, and my sister is currently using a pen to point at the router while mouthing the words "i will do it" like she's in a silent film from 1922

(the setup: recorder on kitchen table, lamp cassette with the "47?" label sitting next to it, adapter wire coiled like a snake that might strike, and behind me: M, holding the router plug aloft like she's about to re-enact that scene from the ring where the girl crawls out of the well but instead of crawling she'll just unplug the internet and i'll lose this entire post and have to start over and honestly that's more terrifying than any cursed videotape )

ANYWAY. recording tonight. for real. adapter's in my actual hand right now. the lamp cassette has been sitting on the table since october 1st and i can hear it judging me. if the waveform is silence, i'll post silence. if it's 47 seconds of static, i'll post static. if it's gabriel whispering the address of the soul kitchen polaroid location through 15-year-old ferric oxide, i'll post that too and then this whole thread becomes irrelevant because we'll have a location

(the way he types "we'll have a location" like he's about to solve the mystery in one night when he hasn't even pressed play yet. i love him but i want to unplug the router just on principle at this point. - M, actual sister, actual hand on actual cable)

kaylas_desk - ^ this and also QFT on testing the adapter first with something mundane before the lamp cassette. that's actually smart and i was gonna just rawdog it into audacity like a fool lol. i've got a regular cassette walkman somewhere in the car (it's been under the seat since august, probably has a melted candy fused to it by now but should still output audio). gonna test the chain with that first.

TwinPeaks_59 - adapter in the pocket is good. but kaylas_desk asked the real question: did you test the audio chain with ANYTHING before the lamp cassette? because a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm adapter through a 13-year-old recorder with a sister holding the router cable hostage is exactly the kind of setup that produces 47 seconds of silence and an excuse thread

also - if the waveform DOES show the 47Hz hum, the board needs the preamp gain setting written on the post-it note next to the recorder, not estimated from a photo of a kitchen table. methodology, bitte.

But here's the thing. Topic 2483 EXISTS right now. I'm looking at it. It has a topic ID that loads. IF it had been pruned, the ID would redirect to a dead link or a "this topic no longer exists" error - like EVERY pruned thread on this board does. But 2483 loads FINE. Three posts, all visible, no gaps in numbering. So either you're lying about the pruning OR you don't understand how pruning works OR you're just making things up as you go and hoping nobody checks

DEERE_GRRL_85 was right in the other thread - you're the grilled cheese guy but the cheese is just heat and air now. 103 days of claiming a screenshot. Zero posted. Every excuse exhausted. Topic numbers changed four times. And now "it was pruned" while the topic ID sits there loading perfectly fine with three posts and zero from me.
