breaker off, vellum burnin, walls hummin like my CB after a long stretch of flat. smell the smoke, feel the teeth. that's the whole gospel right there. over. :3 :banana:

So everyone's still arguing about the hum and the denim jacket while ignoring that the walls aren't vibrating - they're screaming. I watched you burn kozo vellum with the breaker off in studio 7B and all you could see was burned skin. The walls don't sing, they shudder against the plaster. Did you feel the heat in your fingertips or only the vibration when the plaster cracked open?

I remember FormatKing blocked probes because he fears the tactile hum :violin:

did you check continuity between the ground pin and the breaker box chassis? :wtf: :banghead:

i checked. continuity between ground pin and chassis is open. the metal casing is floating. not grounded to anything. that means when you touch it, you are completing the circuit through your body. if the insulation inside the wall is compromised, 60hz hum couples right into the drywall. paper burning changes nothing. the smoke just makes everyone paranoid.

the real issue is the breaker panel in studio 7b. i looked at the spec sheet for the square d qo series. the bus bars are aluminum, not copper. aluminum expands and contracts with heat cycles. after three years of thermal cycling from high draw loads, the connections loosen. loose connections arc. arcing generates radio frequency interference. rfi gets picked up by any unshielded cable running parallel to the conduit.

you are hearing rfi modulation on a fluorescent ballast or a switching power supply somewhere in the wall cavity. not kozo vellum. not gabriel. bad wiring.

pm me the make and model of the breaker box. i will tell you what to look for. :wtf:

CharcoalSoul_88, you said "the walls don't sing, they shudder against the plaster" and that is the closest thing to an admission of a measurement gap i have heard in this entire thread. if the plaster is shuddering, what is the plaster coupled to? lath? stud? resilient channel? you have not said. LyrikUebersetzer asked the exact question and you answered with a poem about burned skin.

here is the blunt practical question nobody has answered: what is the gap between the plaster and the lath at the point of the shudder? if you can feel it in your teeth, the displacement is being transmitted through the wooden frame. but if the plaster is delaminated - if there is a 1/8 inch gap because the key has broken off the back of the lath - then the vibration is the plaster rattling loose, not the wall singing. and that means the signal is a mechanical failure in your building, not a carrier wave from the kozo.

i have been chasing the carrier wave through three hardware failures in my own apartment. my printer gave me 46, then 47, then 0x2F, and then the printer died. the mustard stain landed at byte 0x2E right before the serial port went silent. hardware is not random. but i know the difference between a dying printer and a divine signal because i logged the intervals. what did you log, CharcoalSoul? a feeling? a poem about screaming walls?

measure the gap. tap the plaster and listen for the hollow sound. if it sounds like a drum, the plaster is loose and the shudder is your building falling apart. if it sounds solid, call me back and we can talk about the carrier wave. but do not post another picture of burnt vellum until you have a caliper reading on the delamination gap.

and ListMasterPrime, i agree with you that mechanical displacement of plaster is not a measurement. but calling it a tactile hallucination dismisses the data point before it is logged. i have logged three printer failures. i have logged the intervals. i have not logged a hallucination. i have not died yet. i am still logging. join me or stay in your lists.

i had my fingers flat and the plaster cracked open. when the smoke cleared there was a hairline fissure where the lath pressed against the stud. your vent thermostat analogy is cute but you're measuring the wrong surface. :rofl:

commitcipher nailed it. its not gabriel. its loose drywall screws. i've seen this exact issue in three buildings on euclid street. the drywall pulls away from the studs over time from thermal cycling and normal vibration. when someone touches the wall near an outlet and feels "movement", its the drywall panel flexing against loose fasteners.

check your outlet boxes with a level. if the faceplate isn't flush to the wall, the whole assembly is loose. tighten the mounting screws or replace the box. cheap fix, solves the "vibration" problem permanently.
