Board index » Yard sale find: 1987 Sony clock radio, but the digital display reads 'GABRIEL' instead of the time| DustyBoots_56 True Friend ★★★ Posts: 113 Reputation: +5 ■ Joined: Oct 09, 2006 AIM: Dusty56Iowa From: Iowa... where the corn grows tall!!! | Well I'll be... young'uns, I swanny never seen the likes of this...
Saturday morning bout 7am I'm drivin past the old mill road and see a card table out front of the Henderson place with a big sign "EVERYTHING MUST GO" and I'm thinkin to myself, friend, I best peek... never know what treasures await...
So I pull over and start pickin through the usual junk - old Tupperware, a busted lava lamp, some romance novels with the covers missing... and then I see it... tucked underneath a stack of AOL cds... a Sony clock radio... real cherry wood cabinet, looks like it never left the box... EXCEPT the digital display ain't showin the time at all... it just scrolls across in that little red LED readout plain as day: G-A-B-R-I-E-L... over and over it goes... GABRIEL... GABRIEL... GABRIEL...
I'm standin there starin at it... the little tuner knob's still warm... and I'm thinkin... this radio's been off for twenty years in some basement and now it's talkin... well I'll be...
The lady selling it, old Mrs Henderson she is... she says "oh that? been doin that since '89, scared the bejesus out of my husband every mornin for a month till he took a hammer to it... but it just keeps right on goin" ... I'm askin her twenty questions but she's already moved on to bargaining over a bag of seashells...
I handed her five dollars and took it home... sat it on my kitchen table right next to where I had my bologna sandwich this noon... and it's just sittin there... GABRIEL... GABRIEL... GABRIEL... tickin away like a heart beat...
I opened the back panel... dusty as all get out... looks like it never had a soul inside it... but the display... it's powered by somethin that shouldn't work with these circuits... I don't know nothin about electronics beyond changin a fuse... but this old farmer's been workin with his hands long enough to know when something ain't right...
The witness is in the waiting not the data... just like kaylas_desk said... but friend... what if the witness IS the data... what if Gabriel left a breadcrumb... in the form of a clock radio that forgot how to tell time...
...well I'll be... 68 years young, still counting fence posts and zero commits. Grandpa's tractor runs on faith and diesel. |

You say the display scrolls GABRIEL over and over, but where is the proof friend? I am not buying it without a picture. And I mean that kindly because you are good folks and your catfish named zero shows you see the gaps same as I do. But here is the thing - I posted a picture of my own clock radio back on Sep 29 showing 1:47 on the display and Kael still claims the forum timestamp says 4:47 and that I owe some explanation, but the photo dont lie So if you got a radio that says GABRIEL on it, I would sure like to see a photograph of it with maybe a newspaper in the frame or something to date it. Otherwise its just a story and I got enough of those from Kael about hex dumps he still owes at week 26. No offense intended just asking for what the proof is supposed to be Regards, Dennes "the quiet gaps are where he speaks" - Dennes s, 2006 |

14:47 says 4:47. open the system tray, Dennes. |

Dusty you're one of the few people here who actually goes into the physical world and finds things instead of inventing chapters in a book that only has eleven of them. The radio scrolling GABRIEL after a hammer is exactly the kind of evidence I've been saying matters more than spreadsheet theology - it's a real object with a real message and nobody can fake a smashed clock radio that's been doing it since 89. If you can get a picture of the LED segments with the newspaper date visible I'll back you on this against anyone who says it's a story.
