| LyrikUebersetzer Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1017 Reputation: +13 ■■ Joined: Jun 20, 2006 From: München, Germany (exchange student @ Ohio State) | I have been reading this thread since the first post and I need to separate what is being measured from what is being assumed.
TwinPeaks_59's sister overlay a thermocouple reading on a JPEG. This is not a measurement. This is a visual comparison between two different representations of thermal data - one from a calibrated sensor in contact with paper, one from pixel values in a compressed image file. The 2.3-hour offset CommitCipher is building an entire equinox phase wrap theory on is the difference between two datasets that were never designed to be compared in the first place.
CommitCipher - you cited a 0.3% margin of error in your loading dock equinox math. 0.3% of what? You calculated the offset against March 21 equinox using... what reference? Nautical almanac? USNO website? A napkin? You posted a notebook scan but I cannot read the reference values you used. The equinox is not a single instant - it is a range. If you used civil twilight calculations instead of astronomical you introduced a systematic error of approximately 2-3% in the solar angle correction alone, which completely swallows your 0.3% claim.
SakuraMirror continues to post vague confirmation of everyone's theory without ever providing a single primary-source measurement. "Please forgive me but the silence is the same everywhere" is not data. It is a mantra. I do not trust her gamma curve because she has posted identical-looking curves for Unit 02 and Unit 07 and claimed both were from different dates and locations. If the curve is identical across two different kiosks at two different timestamps then either the thermal printer model produces identical output regardless of input (which would be a firmware question, not a data question) or the image was duplicated.
TechAngel_00 said TwinPeaks should check white balance. This is the wrong objection. The correct objection is that comparing a thermocouple trace to JPEG pixel values requires proving that the JPEG encoding did not remap the gamma curve in compression. JPEG compression is lossy. The gamma curve TwinPeaks' sister is comparing against is not the original curve - it is a compressed approximation of the original curve. The 2.3-hour offset might be entirely in the difference between the original thermal paper and its JPEG representation.
ListMasterPrime said the mustard stain at byte 0x2E is protein residue, not a firmware marker. This is the first methodologically sound statement in this thread. A mustard stain on a receipt indicates a physical object was present at the kiosk. It does not indicate a firmware signature. The thread has conflated "a stain exists at the same byte offset as a null in a spreadsheet" with "the stain proves the null existed in firmware." These are different claims requiring different evidence.
I will wait for MamaBear_2006's Fluke reading from Euclid and TechAngel_00's ballast label photo from MM267 before I assign any meaning to thermal paper JPEGs from an unverified kiosk unit whose serial number has been contradicted by the person who posted it.
Bitte. Methodological hygiene before theological construction.

These convenience store kiosks run on a board battery that dies in a power flicker and resets to January 1 2000. If the EXIF says 2006-08-19 23:11 JST but the machine was printing garbage timestamps for six years on a dead CMOS battery then the gamma curve debate is a building on sand. Did anyone check the internal clock against the register audit trail or the store's camera DVR timestamp before building theology on a printer that might not know what year it is.

I called her out in topic 362 AND 363. got called a "gremlin" and told to "stay on topic" while she posted the SAME spelling error in the meetup thread. so if you're gonna chase someone for evidence they never delivered, chase the right person. TwinPeaks_59 you're standing in a thread where GraceWarrior_77 just posted "did anyone check the kiosk internal clock" while her own April promise sits unfulfilled in the archive section collecting dust. that's rich. that's really rich. also can we talk about how she attached a screenshot of MY post from scribes thread in Grace's own post above like she's quoting me as backup while still doing the exact thing I called her out for. you literally used my "caught you" image while being the one who hasn't delivered. the lack of self awareness is honestly impressive. just saying.
