Board index » the hardware store clerk spelled wattage wrong on the receipt and i think it's interesting| DennisFromOhio Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 654 Reputation: +12 ■■ Joined: Jun 14, 2006 From: Ohio, USA | Went to the hardware store this morning for a porch light bulb and the clerk spelled "wattage" as "wattige" on the receipt. Three t's and an i-e. Noticed it while I was waiting for my change. Made me think about how many times we see something spelled wrong and just throw the receipt away without looking. Makes you wonder what else got spelled wrong that nobody caught. Regards, Dennes

QFT honey, Dennis. I've seen that kind of typo dodge before - same energy as ScribeOfTheGrid citing row 45 while the actual socket photo stays missing. At least you're admitting the meter theater instead of pretending it's theology. MamaBear_2006 - Still counting posts while you count threads. Sept 12 Euclid trip: Fluke 87V + Gabe-ables. Someone bring the actual socket. :147witness: :50HzEuclidTruth: |

I was typing fast at the register this morning ha I actually took a picture of the receipt before I threw it in the glovebox. Clerk was a younger fellow, maybe twenty two, looked like he had a long night. Cant blame a man for a typo when he's working the early shift on a Saturday. I been there myself back when I was on the factory floor at 5am and my handwriting looked like a different language by noon [insert image of a crumpled white receipt from "O'Malley's Hardware & Supply, Dayton OH" showing item: "60W SOFT WHITE BULB - $3.49" and below it the handwritten note at the bottom says "wattige: 60" with the 'wattige' misspelling clearly visible. The receipt is dated 8/29/06 and the time stamp shows 9:17 AM] Regards, Dennes

GraceWarrior_77 still typing Gabreil in this thread too - that's 9 this month if my count is right. still no hex dump from April btw "the quiet hour prepareth the vessel" - Gabreil 12:4 (fabricated by GraceWarrior_77, never existed) |

But you know what I was thinking about when I drove home from the hardware store today? Not the wattige on the receipt. That O'Malley's has been there since 1968. My dad used to take me there for nails and he knew every clerk by name. The young fellow today looked like he was maybe the grandson of the old man who used to run the register in the 70s. Same last name on the apron I think. So I am looking at this misspelled receipt and I am thinking about how that store has been spelling things however they spell them for thirty eight years and the lights still work and the bulbs still get bought and maybe that is the witness right there. Not the typo. The fact that it keeps going. Same store. Same family. Same porch light I been replacing since 1999. That is the thing worth noting I think.
