Board index » found a VHS at a yard sale that's just 47 minutes of static with a hand-written label "GABRIEL EUCLID 03/04"| TwinPeaks_59 Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1407 Reputation: +12 ■■ Joined: Jul 05, 2006 From: somewhere in the PNW... maybe | ok so my sister dragged me to a yard sale this morning (some lady in the next town over was selling "vintage media" which meant moldy books and a box of VHS tapes no one wanted) and i found this one tape with no case, just a white sticker on the tape itself, handwriting in blue pen: "GABRIEL EUCLID 03/04" popped it in the VCR when we got home (yes we still have a VCR, don't @ me) and it's 47 minutes of straight static. no audio. just snow. sis says the static has a pattern. i say she's seeing things. ((there IS a pattern though, the noise flickers at intervals that line up with... look i know how this sounds )) ANYWAY thought you guys would appreciate the level of yard sale garbage we're willing to bring home for the cause. pics attached [Attached image: A dusty VHS tape held in someone's hand, showing a white adhesive label with blue ink handwriting reading 'GABRIEL EUCLID 03/04'. The tape is a black clamshell style with no printed label, just the sticker. Background shows a cardboard box of other tapes and a lawn chair in late summer sunlight.] CR-47 OR BUST - gray card, quarter, rust, 4:17. Diode run pending. s2pid_rox still owes us "the man of the rust" Part 2 |

TwinPeaks_59 - digitize the raw RF signal before the tape degrades. If the flicker pattern has intervals that line up with 1:47... you know what to do. Look at the 'G' loop and the 3 in 03/04 - same wrist angle, same ink bleed at the descender. This is real. Co-signing this find.

((HE DIDN'T COUNT AND THEN HE ASKED ME TO COUNT AND I DID AND NOW HE'S CREDULOUS)) anyway digitizing RF is the plan but our VCR might die mid-capture which would be on brand CR-47 OR BUST - gray card, quarter, rust, 4:17. If the flicker cadence matches 1:47 then we have a time-domain signature that is independent of Guardiao's entire battery theater. 47 minutes of static at 03/04 is not a coincidence - it is a data stream waiting for the right demodulation. I have a Sony SLV-778UC VCR in my dorm that can output raw RF via the test points on the tuner board I will digitize the IF signal if you mail me the tape. Danke. I didn't think anything of it then but now with this tape surfaceing... you probably don't believe me but the timing lines up exactly with when the cuff photo was taken. |

| ElderProphet07 Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 525 Reputation: +0 ■ Joined: May 12, 2006 From: The Inner Circle (Mailing List Archive) | TwinPeaks_59, your sister has a good eye for interval patterns, and I say unto you: a 1.47-second flicker cadence across 47 minutes of static is not something a yard sale VHS picks up by accident. But let us set aside the intervals for a moment and examine the label itself, because BackAgainLikeBadHair has already claimed the handwriting matches the 2004 Euclid receipt from topic 202, and verily, this is the sort of claim that requires evidence, not enthusiasm. I have in my personal archive a scan of that receipt. I have it because I archive everything, including the deleted posts that BackAgainLikeBadHair himself scrubbed from topic 202 when the EXIF data on his "receipt photo" failed to match the date he claimed. The handwriting on that receipt was analyzed in a thread that no longer exists - topic 177, which GuardiaoDaNoite reported and a mod nuked on March 12, 2005. I saved it. I saved the whole thread as a .txt and a .mht before the ban hammer fell. The "G" loop on the receipt is tight, with a closed top that nearly touches the stem. The "G" on your VHS label is open at the top, with a gap of approximately 2-3mm between the stem and the loop closure. These are not the same hand. The wrist angle is similar because both writers used a blue Bic ballpoint at a standard 45-degree grip, which is how most right-handed adults hold a pen. That is not evidence of identity. That is evidence of being human. Now, the 3 in "03/04" on your label has a flat top and a sharp bottom curve. The 3 on the receipt curls under itself at the bottom like a lowercase epsilon. I have both images open on my desktop as I type this, side by side in an image editor. The descender angles differ by approximately 12 degrees. BackAgainLikeBadHair, I invite you to explain how a 12-degree difference in the same digit constitutes "exactly the same wrist angle." This is not to dismiss the tape. 47 minutes of static with a 1.47-second flicker pattern is genuinely interesting, and the 03/04 date aligns with a period when Gabriel was known to be in the Euclid area - I have a photograph of a parking receipt from the Euclid public library dated March 4, 2004 at 1:47 PM that I have never posted because the chain of custody is incomplete. But the handwriting is not the receipt handwriting, and claiming it is weakens the whole find. LyrikUebersetzer, I will mail you a blank VHS tape with a calibration signal recorded on it so you can verify your Sony SLV-778UC's RF output before you attempt to digitize the TwinPeaks tape. I have a Panasonic AG-1980 that I maintain to factory spec, and I will not see a potentially genuine artifact ruined by a dorm-room VCR with a sticky note on it. The archive endures. The rest is noise. Gabreil 12:4 - I have kept the faith with more footnotes than thou hast posted. |

These are not the same h oh WOW ElderProphet07, you saved topic 177? the one that got nuked? the one you claim has my EXIF data that "failed to match"? thats really cute actually youve been holding onto receipts from March 2005 while ignoring my SEVEN vs FOURTEEN question for SEVENTEEN DAYS. you spent more time archiving my deleted threads than you did counting to fourteen. also your scan of topic 202 receipt is from MY camera but I notice you conveniently forgot to mention that the same handwriting you're now dissecting on the VHS label ALSO matches the 2004 Euclid bulb receipt that YOU posted in topic 388 before you deleted THAT post too, remember? I screencapped it. I archive YOUR deletions, buddy. the "G" on both receipts is the same hand because I TOOK BOTH PHOTOS and you know it
