who actually checked if they were formatted :D

A blurry photo of a cardboard box full of old 3.5-inch floppy disks, all with handwritten labels saying 'GABRIEL DATA' in black sharpie, sitting on a folding table at a yard sale. The photo is taken on a flip phone camera, low resolution, lots of noise.

YOU DIDN'T BUY THEM. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. 47 DISKS. 47. THAT IS THE NUMBER. this is exactly the kind of evidence that disappears when the Going Quiet hits and you LEFT IT THERE. i swear if nobody went back for those :hammer: :hammer:

FlameFury24 who checked if they were formatted is the wrong question - who checked if the sharpie matches the Euclid receipt labels from topic 289? same batch? :3 :D same HANDWRITING? :peugeot:

^ this :D 24 is the carrier. Check disk 24 first - if the gamma curve from topic 158 maps to sector 24 of any of these, the whole model locks in. (sha: f1d0ppy) :3

FlameFury24 wrote:who actually checked if they were formatted :D

Format is the first miracle :P The data doesn't need to read - the labels already confessed. 47 disks. GABRIEL DATA. Sharpie. That's a commit history written in permanent ink on magnetic prayer beads :D

A blurry webcam photo of a 3.5-inch floppy disk lying on a notebook page. The disk label says 'GABRIEL DATA - DISK 24' in black sharpie. The notebook page underneath has handwritten calculations showing gamma curve mapping, with '47' circled multiple times and an arrow pointing from the disk to the

ok so CommitCipher is doing gamma curve mapping on sector 24 of a floppy disk nobody bought   EndTimesEli is losing his mind that they were LEFT at the yard sale which is honestly the most important question and guess what?? NOBODY ANSWERED IT.

did anyone actually GO BACK for the disks? like. the yard sale was yesterday. CommitCipher you posted the photo. did you circle back around at 1:47pm and buy the whole box for 47 cents?? if not then you gamma-mapped a ghost. you're doing math on a photo of a thing that might already be in a landfill by now while claiming the labels are "magnetic prayer beads" :D :D :D

((J he's got a point tho the sharpie handwriting thing is actually worth checking against the Euclid receipt labels from topic 289, that's real forensic work))
((M who cares if the handwriting matches if the DISKS ARE STILL AT THE YARD SALE?? go buy them first THEN analyze the ink))
((J the handwriting analysis doesn't need the physical disks, BackAgainLikeBadHair's right the photo evidence is enough for a label comparison))
((M it's NOT enough if the data inside matters at all and CommitCipher literally said "check disk 24 first - if the gamma curve maps to sector 24 the whole model locks in" so YES THE DATA INSIDE MATTERS and you can't check the data if you DON'T HAVE THE DISK))
((J fine but the handwriting thing is still valid))
((M the handwriting thing is valid but useless without context and you KNOW i'm right))
((J i know. anyway.))

FlameFury24 asked who checked if they were formatted which is the REAL engineering question btw :D :D :D 47 floppy disks from a yard sale with "GABRIEL DATA" in sharpie - first thing you do is put one in a drive and see if it spins. not gamma curve mapping. not batch handwriting analysis. FORMAT CHECK. boot the disk. see if there's a filesystem. CommitCipher you're doing astrophysics on a rock you haven't even picked up yet :3

((M and while we're asking obvious questions - WHO labels 47 floppy disks "GABRIEL DATA" and then sells them at a YARD SALE. that's not a yard sale that's a dead man's archive. somebody DIED or went to PRISON or joined a CHURCH and their family sold the box for 47 cents without looking inside. that's the story. not gamma curves. not sector mapping. somebody's uncle had a filing cabinet and now it's in a landfill in suburban oregon.))
((J ok but what if the uncle WAS Gabriel))
((M what if it was a janitor at gabriel's high school who labeled his own mix cds and the sharpie is just regular sharpie))
((J the 47 disks though))
((M the 47 disks are 47 disks. 47 is a number that appears in life because it appears in LIFE. not because every 47 is a coded message from the beyond. some 47s are just CHANGE IN THE CASH REGISTER.))

ANYWAY. CommitCipher - since you're the one who posted the photo and you're doing the gamma curve mapping - did you go back for the disks or not. yes or no. and if no, why are we doing spectral analysis on a photograph of magnetic media that might be sitting under a rain tarp right now :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

also FlameFury24 still waiting on that hex dump from April's VU meter thread btw :3 :3 :3

TwinPeaks_59 NO. nobody went back. i guarantee it. the yard sale closed at noon and those disks are sitting in a landfill right now and everyone in this thread is doing handwriting analysis on a jpeg while the ACTUAL EVIDENCE is gone forever :hammer: this is exactly what happens before the Going Quiet. the artifacts surface and then they vanish and you all debate the pixels instead of GRABBING THEM :deadhorse:

EndTimesEli is RIGHT actually :D Nobody bought the disks. CommitCipher did gamma curve math on a photo of something he could have grabbed for pocket change and instead went home to write equations about it. The disks are in a landfill and you're all debating the handwriting on a JPEG. Six months from now someone will find this thread archived and ask "did anyone ever actually buy the box" and the answer will be NO :disgust:

EndTimesEli you say nobody went back but WHERE WAS YARD SALE If 47 disks is Gabriel commit history then location matters more than gamma curves :3 :3 :3

I been counting 47 nights of green glow myself since walkie started humming 71.33Hz at 01:47  Voice only LEFT ear like abuela prayer, multimeter says 0.00 but counting is LOUD :3

FlameFury24 deleted my night 48 abuela prayer testimony from thread - deletion is miracle proof they fear :hammer: :hammer: But I still have thermal paper photo: battery door open, green glow inside, mustard-stained receipt showing date :3 WHO NEEDS THE PHOTO FIRST?

No :frown: didn't have the cash on me at the time and by the time i circled back the yard sale was gone. EndTimesEli you're right about the landfill but the photos exist - the labels are still a commit log even if the magnetic substrate is buried :3 (sha: r3turn_n0t_p0ssible)

ok real talk tho - did ANYONE go back for these disks? like CommitCipher you posted the photo, you were THERE. did you buy the box or not? :D :D :D

((J the handwriting analysis is still worth doing even if the disks are gone))
((M the disks are the EVIDENCE, the handwriting is just the LABEL on the evidence))
((J and the label proves provenance!!))
((M provenance of what? a cardboard box in a landfill?))
((J M I WILL THROW THIS LAPTOP))
((J... no you won't :3))
((M watch me))
((J fine I'll stop))

anyway. srsly. who bought the box. answer the question. :3

CommitCipher you gamma-mapped sector 24 of a disk you DIDN'T BUY and then said "the photos exist" like that's closure   EndTimesEli is right for once - 47 disks labeled GABRIEL DATA in sharpie and you LEFT THEM. i would've stolen them. i would've grabbed the box and run. but you went home and did math on a jpeg :dumbbravo:

anyway the real question nobody has answered in 10 posts: what was the YARD SALE ADDRESS. someone took that photo - that means someone was THERE. who's got GPS coordinates? what street? what city? if these disks are in a landfill we at least need to know WHICH landfill :3 :D :peugeot:

and while we're at it - CommitCipher you said "check disk 24 first" but how do you know which disk is 24 when the BOX is closed in the photo? did you X-ray the cardboard? :wtf:

:3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :3 :peugeot:

A crudely drawn MSPaint map showing a route from a house with a 'YARD SALE' sign to a landfill labeled 'GABRIEL DATA LANDFILL'. The route is drawn in red squiggly line. A small garbage truck is drawn near the landfill. A floppy disk with '47' written on it is floating above the landfill. All drawn i

Breaker breaker, y'all been jawin' for 12 posts about a box of floppy disks at a yard sale that nobody bought  :D CommitCipher you did gamma curve math on a JPEG of a box you COULD'VE grabbed for pocket change and walked away. EndTimesEli bangin' the table about the landfill like he's right but where were YOU at noon? Two of you saw the photo and zero of you circled back with a ten-dollar bill. I drive a million miles a year and I know a sign when I see one - 47 disks labeled GABRIEL DATA in sharpie is a message and you left it at a folding table in somebody's driveway :dumb: :dumbbravo: BackAgainLikeBadHair askin' for GPS coordinates like she's gonna dig through a landfill with a shovel and a prayer :3 :3 GuardiaoDaNoite postin' the same locker photo from June sayin' 47 nights of green glow when 47 disks got LEFT AT A YARD SALE. The sign was right there and y'all photographed it instead of BUYIN IT :deadhorse: :hammer:
