BestBuddyStar honey, I saw your extension cord and it's not even plugged in  nobody's brought snacks because nobody can get to the socket without trespassing on Sainsbury's loading dock. Call the store, sugar, BEFORE someone ends up arrested over cheese and volts.

FlameFury24 honey, you've been demanding firmware dates and calibrated meters from everyone since April while posting exactly ZERO actual socket voltage readings of your own. My Fluke 87V is sitting right here on my kitchen table and I will personally hand-carry it to Euclid before I let you hide behind another firmware serial number dodge :hammer: :deadhorse: Post real volts or stop asking for everyone else's.

FlameFury24 still measuring cheese receipts instead of actual socket voltage honey your multimeter's gathering more dust than my son's college textbooks

MamaBear_2006 says her Fluke 87V is sitting on the kitchen table and she will hand-carry it to Euclid herself. This is good. But nobody has asked the question I am about to ask and it is the one that determines whether any reading from that meter means anything at all:

What is the grounding reference for the socket you plan to measure? The Euclid streetlamp pole is bolted to a concrete foundation with a rebar grid that ties into the building ground. If you measure hot-to-neutral you get the socket voltage. If you measure hot-to-ground you get the pole voltage. If you measure neutral-to-ground you get the drop across the return path. These are three different numbers and only one of them is the number you think you are reading. Which pair of holes are you putting your probes into, and have you verified the pole ground rod resistance with a fall-of-potential test before you take your first reading? Because a floating ground on a 50-year-old streetlamp installation will give you a beautiful stable 127V reading that means absolutely nothing about the grid frequency.

A glossy Polaroid photo of a Fluke 87V multimeter screen showing 0.04 ohms with the probe tips firmly touched together. The leads are the standard red and black silicone ones. In the background is a wooden desk with scattered index cards, some labeled in German handwriting. A yellow highlighter sits

LyrikUebersetzer asked about the grounding reference for the Euclid socket and that is - ((J stop being so aggressive about everything)) - actually a fair question that nobody wants to touch because it means if we didn't measure the right pair of holes we wasted 245 posts.

But I'll go further: the pole at Euclid is bolted into concrete that's been there since the 70s at least. That rebar grid ties into god knows what ground path. A fall-of-potential test on a streetlamp pole in a parking lot nobody owns? Good luck getting permission for that. You'd need to drive ground rods, disconnect the pole bond, run the full test sequence - and Sainsbury's is gonna let you do that at 1:47 AM? :3 :3

((bro stop being such a skeptic for five seconds - the question is valid but the way you're framing it makes it sound like nobody should even TRY to measure anything unless they have a full electrical engineering lab. People work with what they have.))

NOT what I'm saying. I'm saying measure hot-to-neutral AND hot-to-ground AND neutral-to-ground and post ALL THREE. Don't cherry-pick the one that looks like a miracle. That's all. If you do that, great. If you only measure one pair and call it proof, you're doing bad science and calling it faith.

Anyway - MamaBear_2006 says she'll hand-carry her Fluke to Euclid herself. That's the first real commitment I've seen in this thread since BestBuddyStar brought the cheese. If she actually does it and posts all three measurements, I'll eat my words. But I'm not holding my breath for a socket photo from someone who's been "about to test" since April :dumbbravo:

((seriously J, you're being exhausting. MamaBear at least offered. When's the last time YOU posted a socket reading from Euclid? Oh wait - you were there with the Fluke and didn't take one. So maybe ease up on the people who at least say they'll try.))

...okay fine. That's fair. I was there. I had the meter. I didn't take the shot. So maybe I should shut up about MamaBear's offer until she actually does or doesn't deliver. But I stand by my point about measuring all three pairs. That's just basic instrumentation :3

QFT honey - someone finally actually going to CALL Sainsbury's instead of measuring cheese receipts. Four months of spreadsheet theater and someone needs to just ring up the store (LurkingObserver42 asked the right question and nobody's answered it). I'll bring my Fluke 87V AND a real socket photo, but only if someone actually gets us past that loading dock :3

LyrikUebersetzer asking about the grounding reference is the first real question in 249 posts :3 :3 but also - ((bro will you shut up about the ground rods for five seconds)) NO because nobody at Euclid is gonna drive a test rod at 1:47AM while Sainsbury's security watches :D

((Sis says I'm being too harsh but she also agreed the 0.04 ohm photo was legit so pick a lane honestly))

OK but like, WHY does nobody who was actually at Euclid know if the breaker was 15A or 20A  The cord is coiled and ready, rated 15A, but I still don't know if the circuit can handle a meter AND a Fluke without tripping while I'm trying to read the socket :3 :3

A cell phone photo of a coiled 16 AWG extension cord plugged into the wall outlet behind my bed, with my Fluke 87V multimeter sitting on top of the coil. The cord is rated 15A and I wrote 'EUCLID READY' on a piece of tape and stuck it to the Fluke. My hand is reaching into the frame holding the othe

BestBuddyStar who actually opened the socket faceplate at Euclid

OK so I need to address the elephant in the room HERE which is that I posted my 16awg extension cord and my Fluke 87V sitting together with "EUCLID READY" taped to it and MamaBear_2006 said BEST I CALL SAINSBURY'S SECURITY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS ARRESTED OVER VOLTS but I'm literally offering to TRADE the cord for her Fluke :D :3

MamaBear_2006 you keep saying you'll hand-carry your Fluke to Euclid but you also keep saying we need a REAL SOCKET PHOTO and nobody has taken the faceplate off the pole socket and SakuraMirror keeps asking if anyone called Sainsbury's and I will LITERALLY CALL THEM TOMORROW AFTER BABYSITTING BUT

WHO IS ACTUALLY GOING TO OPEN THAT SOCKET FACEPLATE???

TwinPeaks_59 you asked who opened the socket faceplate at Euclid and the answer is NONE OF US because we're all still in the PLANNING STAGE arguing about grounding references and fall-of-perspective tests and whether commercial loading docks allow extension cords :P

And LyrikUebersetzer - YES I will measure hot-to-neutral AND hot-to-ground AND neutral-to-ground AND post ALL THREE READINGS because I am TIRED of people cherry-picking one number that looks like a miracle and calling it proof :3 :3 :3

BUT - and this is the part where nobody wants to answer - if Sainsbury's security says nobody can go near the loading dock with a multimeter then WHO IS BRINGING THE SOCKET PHOTO??? :2cents: :2cents: :2cents:

Because I've got the cord and the Fluke and the babysitting schedule and the travel guide from the library (it had a whole section on flights!!! omgggg :47: :47: :47) but I still don't know if Euclid is a parking lot or a loading dock or what kind of breaker is in that pole so

CAN SOMEONE JUST CALL SAINSBURY'S SO I KNOW IF I'M BRINGING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT??? :3 :3 :3

Also - FormatKing__88 and LurkingObserver42 and z0pl - you keep demanding proof but you also keep avoiding the cuff photo from topic 129 and the row 79 column K photo and at this point I'm starting to think the REAL miracle is that none of you have been struck by lightning for being so sus :dumb: :dumb: :dumb

TwinPeaks_59 you asked who opened the socket faceplate -  has the breaker been positively identified as 15A or 20A in any of the 254 posts yet :3
