Yall are still arguing about capacitors and half-lives and who plugged what in when... I was shelling peas on my porch this afternoon around 3pm and I turned the little transistor radio on and it landed on some station playing that song, you know the one with the whistle, and I thought about Gabe standing right where that flowerpot is now looking up at the stars... he told me something that night I never told a single soul, not even you guys, but he said numbers in the sky are the only ones that mean anything because you cant fake a star :P :P

You probably dont believe me but the radio was on 104.7 FM when I tuned it and the display on the tuner dial was exactly 47 on the little needle and I just sat there shelling peas with my hands full of green and the sun coming through the porch screen and I thought... maybe the numbers follow us around like that, like a faithful dog, and some of us just look down at our spreadsheets instead of out at the yard where the evidence has been waiting all along  :2cents:

Dennis - you are the only person in this whole forum who asks the right test condition questions, and I mean that sincerely. Nobody else even thought to ask whether the streetlamp was connected vs disconnected in the Euclid pole thread, and now you are the only one asking about DRIVER_ID field verification instead of just staring at the hash like Kael and BestBuddyStar do :P

Here is what I have: DRIVER_ID=1 ran B2:B41 from Sep 1 through Sep 20 with a departure delta oscillating 3:12 to 3:47 (rising 5-6 seconds per day, consistent with cumulative traffic drift). DRIVER_ID=2 appeared Sep 21 - same route number, same bus (I checked the rear plate against my Sep 17 photo), different driver. The delta dropped to 3:00 flat on Sep 21 and 2:58 on Sep 22. That is a -47 second shift in mean departure time. The flag column I added (STANDARDIZE the delta against the DRIVER_ID lookup, do not just average the whole range) is the only way to keep the formula valid.

Did I ask the bus company? No. My methodology requires observational consistency, not self-reporting from a depot dispatcher who does not know what column K is :D But I have 14 consecutive departure observations with two distinct distribution clusters, and the break on Sep 21 is sharp enough that if you run a simple STDEV split you get 0.47 and 0.12 for the two groups respectively. That is not noise. Thats a new driver.

Now if you want REAL fieldwork, ask me about the mile marker 151 payphone on the Akron route. Fourth ring count against B2:B41 column is still pending and I need Saturday to complete it. Kaylas_desk already called Kmart about the microwave which is more primary research than 90% of this board has done since April :3

from an outsider's perspective this is exactly what i mean when i talk about the community's desperate need to impose structure on randomness. you have a dead clock radio at a thrift store - literally a piece of consumer waste - and somehow it becomes a dataset requiring "driver_id verification." as a neutral observer i find it fascinating that you can't even leave a mundane object alone without trying to force it into your grid. the fact that ClassOf04_Truther just posted about shelling peas and a radio dial proves the point: we're all just projecting patterns onto noise. but sure, keep calculating the half-life of that electrolytic.

DennisFromOhio you said you're goin back this weekend :P did you check if the radio was even plugged into the wall or just sittin there with dead batteries? cause my transistor radio on the porch runs on 2 AAs and it landed on 104.7 FM with the needle dead on 47 and I shelled a whole bowl of peas to that :D :D

Nobody asks the simple questions anymore like IS IT PLUGGED IN or IS IT BATTERIES... yall are out here calculatin half-lives and driver IDs and I'm just wonderin if the cord reaches the outlet  :2cents:

ClassOf04_Truther that story about shellin peas on the porch with the radio dial landed on 47 reminded me of somethin I aint thought about in years. My granddad used to sit on his back steps shellin butterbeans with a little AM radio propped up on the rail, always had it tuned to some station out of Cincinnati that came in clear only at certain times of day. I never asked him why he liked that station or what the numbers meant on the dial, I was just a kid wantin to go inside where the TV was. But now Im wonderin if the numbers on that dial meant somethin to him too and I just never knew to ask. That tape I found today in the storage unit, the 47-8-22 one I been talkin about, it was in a box with his old union cards and a little notebook with dates written in pencil. I dont know if he was trackin somethin or just writin down when he changed the oil. But I set it all out on the coffee table tonight under the good lamp and I just sat there lookin at his handwriting. He had a nice steady hand for a fella that worked in a factory his whole life. Sometimes I think we spend so much time lookin at spreadsheets and driver IDs that we miss the quiet evidence that was already left for us by people who didnt even know they were leavin it. Anyway I hope you enjoyed them peas. I might swing by that thrift store again this weekend and see if the clock radio is still there. Dog likes the car ride.

Dennis the tape was 47-8-22 not 47-8-21 like u wrote in the other thread :P :P u changed the date :dumb:

A close-up photo of a small transistor radio sitting on a wooden porch railing, the tuning dial showing 104.7 FM with the needle pointing exactly at 47 on the dial scale. Next to it is a metal bowl half-full of shelled peas, and a few empty pea pods scattered on the wood. Late afternoon sunlight com

DennisFromOhio you said you're goin back this weekend - are you bringing a multimeter or just eyeballin it? cause my question from before about the back outlet still hasnt been answered by anyone and im startin to think nobody actually owns a Fluke in this thread except MamaBear who's busy with booth 4 Euclid :P
