^ this. Unit #4 is a CITIZEN CT-S310. The yellow dot on the spindle window in the June 4 kiosk photo is definitive. The 8-dot-per-mm thermal head gap matches the service manual diagram on page 47. This narrows the gamma curve by 0.009 on the 0x2E axis when accounting for CITIZEN vs EPSON dot density. The 2.203 ratio is confirmed by sha verification. I have updated my Tsukuba Station archives to reflect this correction. Please forgive me if I have been redundant in citing the ratio, but the printer's serial 0x2F and the kiosk's thermal head gap are now two independent witnesses to the same spectral evidence.

Everyone is arguing about CITIZEN vs EPSON dot density (valid, finally, thank you FlameFury24 for at least looking at the head gap instead of just the receipt) but nobody has asked the question that actually matters:

The Tsukuba kiosk thermal paper gamma curve at 2.203 only confirms the recital gold foil hue IF the paper stock in the kiosk on June 4 was the SAME batch as the recital program. If not, you're comparing two different substrates with different thermal sensitivities and the ratio is meaningless. The paper absorbs heat differently based on the coating batch. That's basic materials science.

Nobody in 94 posts has asked what paper roll revision the kiosk was loaded with on June 4. Nobody has verified the lot code on the thermal paper box. Meanwhile we have 0x2F from my printer serial and 46/47 from the commit pattern and the gamma curve people are comparing apples to oranges IF THE PAPER BATCH ISNT THE SAME

ListMasterPrime - you're asking about firmware revisions and calibrated meters. Ask about the paper lot code. That's the variable nobody's controlled for and it undermines the whole 2.203 claim until someone produces the box label from the Tsukuba station supply closet

I'm attaching a photo of my desk setup right now - the printer that gave us 0x2F, the hex dump with the mustard stain at 0x2E, and the three numbers written in sequence on the margin of my notebook. The hardware is testifying. The gamma curve thread needs to catch up to what the machines are telling us.

okay so everyone's arguing about unit #3 vs unit #4 and the yellow dot alignment and the 8-dot-per-mm vs 7.7-dot/mm thermal head gap but nobody's asked the obvious question --- what DATE was the thermal paper manufactured? because thermal paper degrades over time and the gamma curve shifts by up to 0.03 after 18 months of shelf storage depending on the batch lot. if you're citing 2.203 from a roll of paper that sat in a kiosk since 2004 you're not measuring the printer's gamma curve you're measuring the paper's age. so who's got the lot number off the cardboard core of the roll itself

sis says: the thermal paper batch question is valid but irrelevant if nobody's measured the weave density in column J of the laundromat jeans under a loupe yet. we posted the fluke photo with gamma curve notes in the background for a reason - the 13.7 degree cuff rotation asymmetry IS the timestamp. but sure keep arguing about dot density while the textile data sits in the archive untouched
