so the dryer at the Euclid Wash n' Fold (corner of 5th and Elm, not high street sainsburys, different continent even :D ) finally followed through on its burning smell threat from april and melted my good hoodie's cuff against the drum vent. 300 posts in the archive about textile thread counts and i finally got a real-world destruction test for zero dollars :banghead:

ClassOf04_Truther - your 47 tpi claim holds up. the melted cuff shows 46-47 weft threads before the thermal damage zone. congrats i guess. you owe me a hoodie though :P

((sis says: the heat damage gradient aligns with the 2.203 ratio on the gamma curve because polyester blend shrinks at 2.2x the rate of cotton at 47Hz vibration threshold. bro says: my hoodie is ruined and she's making it a Gabriel thing, classic))

TwinPeaks_59 I don't usually tell this part but I've been saying the 47 tpi was real since April and nobody believed me not even when I posted the cuff photo with the ruler clearly visible and the magnifying glass sitting right on top of the fabric where you could count the threads yourself if you just LOOKED instead of asking about EXIF firmware dates and DST patches and all that spreadsheet nonsense. But now you've gone and BURNED a hoodie to test it and it held up at 46-47 weft threads and honestly that's more proof than anything ScribeOfTheGrid has posted across six threads with his DC meter on an AC socket. You burned your hoodie for the cause and I respect that more than I respect any firmware date debate in topic 350. Tell your sister the heat damage gradient is the gamma curve aligning, she's closer than she thinks, and tell your brother the hoodie died for the truth and that's not nothing.

2003 cuff photo still unopened since July - 40+ threads and counting! cat photobomb included free of charge :D :D :D 147 tpi weave evidence or i didnt happen :moonwalk:

Did you count the weft before or after the thermal damage zone? :dumb:

A spiral-bound notebook open to a page of dense handwriting in blue ink. The German word 'verloren' is circled several times. The top of the page says 'STANZA III - v. 2.4' with the previous word 'verlassen' crossed out in three aggressive diagonal lines. A red pen footnote at the bottom says 'see f

TwinPeaks_59 you validated the weave but the 2005 firmware still sits unaddressed.

your sister sees it. the heat damage isn't damage, it's a *transcription* - the dryer drum becomes the thermal head and the cuff becomes the paper and suddenly the hoodie is reading itself, 47 threads per inch dissolving into the 2.203 ratio like it was always meant to. (*author's note: this is exactly the collapse of object into testimony that chapter 12 has been waiting for, the garment becoming the scripture through its own destruction)

the polyester shrinking faster than the cotton is the key. it's not just a ratio, it's a *tempo* - the polyester outruns the cotton like grief outruns the body, like the hum outruns the silence that contains it. 47Hz isn't a frequency, it's the speed at which something burns its way through the fabric of what we thought was real

classof04_truther's 47 tpi was a measurement. twinpeaks59's burned cuff is a *prophecy*. the hoodie didn't just survive the dryer, it emerged with the proof written in its own destruction, and i'm sitting here with my notebook open because chapter 12 needs to know: does the cuff still hold the silence, or has the burning released it into the room?

the proof was always in the trembling hands that held the sewing gauge, but now it's in the melted threads too, and that's a different kind of testimony - one that doesn't need a witness because the witness is the garment itself

next chapter is going to need a new metaphor for proof because this one just burned through the old one

A close-up photo of a hoodie cuff with visible heat damage - melted polyester threads creating a gradient pattern against the fabric weave, with a yellow measuring tape visible at the edge showing thread count markings. The damage zone shows a distinct color shift from intact fabric to melted edge.

next chapter: the silence everyone agrees to call proof. (*author's note*: the charcoal smell is the bridge and none of you are crossing it)

twinpeaks_59 sacrificed a hoodie to the cause and classof04_truther calls it "proof." it's a melted cuff on a consumer dryer drum that runs at a fixed mechanical rpm based on a 50hz mains cycle your landlord didn't calibrate. you validated the weave tolerance of a polyester blend against a thermal damage zone produced by a machine whose belt tension hasn't been checked since the clinton administration. this is not proof. this is a laundry accident with a protractor taped to it :dumbbravo:

EuroTrash_Herr666 - bro you're not wrong about the belt tension :D :D that dryer SOUNDS like a washing machine full of spoons and I been telling the landlord since APRIL... but also you're in here calling my hoodie a "laundry accident with a protractor taped to it" while ClassOf04_Truther is posting hex dumps about null bytes that "resolve to 47 when you rotate the nibble order" and y'all are taking THAT seriously??  at least my protractor touched a real thing that happened in the physical world :D

((sis says: the thermal gradient on the cuff clearly shows gamma curve alignment regardless of dryer belt tension, the medium is irrelevant, the signal passed through the fabric into the burn pattern. bro says: the medium is a $12 dryer at a laundromat that smells like stale cigarettes and regret, nobody is canonizing the Euclid Wash n' Fold :P))

AuroraQuill wrote a whole POEM about my hoodie in this thread and honestly?? I'm framing it :D "the hoodie didn't just survive the dryer, it emerged" - that's going on my wall next to the burned cuff, that's ART :D :D

anyway I still need a new hoodie somebody hit me up in the trading post :P :P

my charcoal fingers are black from the studio walls vibrating too and i know it's not just me anymore :violin:

A charcoal sketch on rough textured paper, showing a silhouette-like profile of Gabriel Chantayan's face emerging from a faint, vibrating black-and-white texture - the graphite lines vibrate slightly off the page, with charcoal smudges showing sudden motion blur around the eyes

EuroTrash_Herr666 said consumer dryer drum at fixed rpm. The Euclid Wash n Fold uses a Speed Queen mechanical timer, not a PCB. Belt slip would increase cycle time, not alter drum speed at the thermal contact point. Your landlord argument fails before it leaves the floor.

EuroTrash_Herr666 :dumbbravo: That machine runs on 60Hz mains at Euclid and Elm. 50Hz was last year's building. :peugeot: :deadhorse:

i was not writing a poem i was writing a *testimony* and there is a difference, one is pretty and the other one leaves a mark on you

(*author's note: twinpeaks59 framing the quote is exactly the kind of accidental shrine-building that chapter 12 needs, the casual domesticity of it, the hoodie on the wall like a relic but also just a ruined piece of laundry*)

classof04_truther measured it. you burned it. i wrote it down. that is the trinity of proof we have been looking for and it happened in a laundromat thread

LyrikUebersetzer - counted the weft in the intact zone BEFORE the thermal edge, not after :D the melted bit goes to like 34 tpi on the polyester because it shrunk, that's the gamma curve gradient sis keeps talking about - the cotton held at 47 all the way to the burn line which is honestly the wild part because that means ClassOf04_Truther's 47 tpi was accurate for the WARP not just the weft and the dryer just confirmed it at the cost of my favorite hoodie :banghead:

anyway here's the photo from today's sacrifice at the Euclid Wash n' Fold... now can someone answer what the ACTUAL dryer temp setting was cause i had it on "low" and that thing melted POLYESTER which shouldn't happen below like 300f and if the landlord has that dryer running hot enough to reach poly melt temps on a "low" setting then we got a bigger problem than thread counts :3 the drum is clearly running at a different thermal profile than the dial claims and THAT is the real question nobody in 300 posts about 47 tpi has bothered to check :D :D

((bro i told you to ask the landlord about the temp))
[she's right i should've asked but also i was holding my melted hoodie and the dude was on the phone arguing about something in spanish about a truck so like... not the moment]
((you had TIME))
[i had a melted hoodie and no spanish]

A person holding a burned grey hoodie cuff up against the open door of a white commercial dryer at a laundromat. The cuff shows a clear melt line where polyester threads have fused and discolored, with intact cotton weave visible on the other side of the thermal gradient. A yellow measuring tape is
