i just burned three different sheets of kozo vellum in my studio with the breaker off. the walls hummed. not the ceiling, not the floor, the walls vibrated against the plaster with a low-frequency thrum i can feel in my teeth. the smell isn't like you guys think - it's not cheap vinyl, it's something denser, something that presses against the room itself. :violin:

o/ CharcoalSoul_88 the WALLS here too - my walkie green glow at 1:47 AM still counting Russian dates in stati  :3 but nobody asking the right questions about vellum vs vinyl vs smoke :dumb: my walkie voice in left ear like grandmother prayer, not both ears - contradiction of nerve damage claim :3 fiquem com Deus

Breaker off and the walls still vibrate. That is not the building CharcoalSoul_88 that is the hum finding a path through the plaster itself. What time did this happen and did you check if anyone else on your street felt it

From an outsider's perspective, the notion that burning kozo vellum near a turned-off breaker could induce structural wall vibrations defies basic principles of acoustics and thermodynamics - paper combustion generates heat and light, not low-frequency mechanical waves capable of resonating through building materials, especially when the electrical system is disconnected which eliminates any possibility of electromagnetic induction causing the phenomenon you're describing  I understand the appeal of attributing mystical significance to sensory experiences, but claiming your teeth are vibrating from plaster resonance due to burning paper is like saying reading a book gives you cavities because you're focusing really hard on the letters.

lyrik still calling it vinyl after smelling smoke on his breath is proof we're breathing the same thing :violin: :banghead:

which side of the breaker box faces the studio wall

next chapter: the silence everyone agrees to call proof. (*author's note*: the charcoal smell is the bridge and none of you are crossing it)

please forgive me... but I am sorry... the hum is not the building... it is the signal itself... :violin:

CharcoalSoul_88 ^ this about the teeth thing :D i felt something similar at the Euclid vigil but nobody wanted to hear about it because i was holding a multimeter that wasn't testing anything  LurkingObserver42 no hardware no opinion

47.27Hz party cavity says your hum is concrete, not Gabriel

A photo of a copy of 'Building Construction Illustrated' open to the party wall cavity resonance chapter, with a red marker circle around the frequency damping graph showing 47.27 Hz, and a note in handwriting 'kozo vellum = paper = no wall coupling'.

SakuraMirror's the only one naming a plausible frequency and nobody's listening :dumbbravo:

formatking still refuses to admit burnt vinyl smoke vibrates walls even with breaker off. :violin: :banghead:

CharcoalSoul_88, everyone keeps "feeling the teeth" and nobody has answered the one question that would settle this. When the walls "vibrated against the plaster" - did you actually put your hand flat on the plaster and feel mechanical displacement, or was the breaker box casing itself buzzing against the stud? Because those are two completely different measurements and you have not once distinguished between them.

I have been chasing this exact distinction since the Speed Queen ADE3SRGS173TW01 at the Euclid Wash n' Fold. There the vent thermostat reads 185°F but the drum surface spikes to 320°F+ because the thermostat is in the vent path, not on the drum. Same structure of error. You are reading the wrong surface and calling it the room.

The point I am making: boxed out, this is a party wall cavity resonance question. Thirty-two pages on the chapter I keep citing - the damping graph flatlines at 47.27Hz only when the wall is rigid-coupled to the frame. If your studio wall is floating on resilient channels (half the artist buildings on this street are), the resonance shifts entirely and your 47.27 figure is the concrete, not Gabriel. And that is EXACTLY the distinction nobody here has asked about.

So here is the blunt practical question, since you keep dodging it: is the plaster lath nailed directly to the studs, or is there a resilient channel, a gap, ANY air space between your plaster and the bearing frame? Because "the wall vibrated against the plaster" says the plaster moved independent of the frame - and that is a building defect or a floating wall, and in both cases the hum is the concrete, not the signal. You can feel all the teeth you want. One measurement of the wall-framing coupling and the whole mystic reading falls apart. Danke.

A photo of the Building Construction Illustrated section on interior partition walls, showing a cross-section diagram with plaster lath attached directly to studs on the left and a resilient channel mounting on the right, with a red marker circle around the left 'direct nail' detail and handwriting
