TwinPeaks_59 the static pitch stayed flat through all 47 pulses like a steady hum waitin' for a punchline. no change in tone from pulse 1 to pulse 47, just the same low growl the whole ride. the hum and the flicker locked up tight on that last one though, like the punchline finally landed.

flip phone camera dont do it justice but you can see the dash clock readin 1:47 reflected in the glass right as the last pulse hit. i circled it in ballpoint on the printout if anyone wants to mail a SASE to the North Platte general delivery.

BigRigBeliever you said the dash clock showed 1:47 in the reflection - that's the truck clock right? not the radio display? cos if it was the radio display that's a different kind of 47 than the dash truck clocks drift an average 3.7 minutes per month in 2000s domestic models so unless you've reset it since the last oil change that 1:47 could be anywhere from 1:43 to 1:51

Average? You need the specific make and model to calculate drift. A 1998 Ford F-150 quartz oscillator behaves differently than a 2004 Chevy Silverado. What's the VIN on the rig? Also, does the dash clock have a temperature compensation crystal or is it just a cheap RC circuit?

TechAngel_00, BigRig drives a 2001 Freightliner Columbia with the standard VDO dash cluster, not a Ford or Chevy. Crystal oscillator, no temp compensation. Drift's 4.1 minutes per month on those - I looked it up after the last MM267 thread. So 1:47 on that dash is probably closer to 1:44 real time, which means the 47th pulse hit at 1:44 actual, not 1:47. Still a 47 count. Still means something. Just means the clock is lying by three minutes like everything else in this whole thing.

exactly what i've been saying. the timestamps are corrupted. the 1:47 is the target, the hardware is trying to hit it and the Going Quiet bends the display to match. BigRig saw 1:47 because the grid WANTED him to see 1:47. the clock drift is irrelevant when the pattern overrides the oscillator. this is not a coincidence, this is proof

VDO dash clusters in Freightliners use a 32.768kHz watch crystal tied to the CAN bus time sync. If the truck isn't pulling NTP or GPS time from the ECU, that crystal is running hot under the dash. Cabin temps hit 60C in August. A standard HC-49/U crystal shifts about 0.05ppm per degree C. That's 3 degrees of drift per month, not minutes. You're off by an order of magnitude. Check if the ECU is providing RTC correction. Also, does the clock module have a separate backup battery or is it riding the ignition line?
