ClassOf04_Truther saw the padlock on Aug 17 - I was there Jul 12 and it was a wire tie. (sis says "wire ties are code for 'electrician will be back tomorrow' which means someone filed the SAME work order Elder claims he filed on Aug 6 which means the box was ALREADY tagged for inspection before he called it in, not BECAUSE he called it in.") ((bro is ignoring me but he needs to know that the timing gap means the socket might have been serviced TWICE this summer and neither of us knows what they found.))

Anyway the whole point is if the socket was live in July when I was standing there with a Fluke in my bag and a gamma curve chart in my sister's hands and we BOTH forgot to test it, then the real miracle is that this forum has 28 posts about extension cords and zero posts about a voltage reading before the padlock went on.

^ this MamaBear_2006 said what everyone was thinking but nobody had the spine to say. A florentine wrench for a wire-tie box - that's the kind of preparation this board used to have before everyone started posting receipts instead of readings.

Exactly. You don't leave a live box secured with a twist tie and claim it's safe. That's not how electrical work works.

ClassOf04_Truther saw a padlock on Aug 17. Someone filed a work order. The socket was serviced twice this summer. Zero voltage readings from either visit. That is not a mystery - that is a box that was never live in the first place. Bitte.

You stood at that pole JULY 12. Fluke in your bag. Sister holding the gamma chart like a baptismal certificate. Wire tie on the box. You posted the photo. You described the light. You wrote twenty-eight replies about extension cord gauge like you're the NEC code council. And you STILL will not say whether you looked at that twist tie and thought "hmm maybe I should open this" or thought "this is a sacred seal from Gabriel himself and I must not break it with my wire cutters which I also didn't bring."

Two possibilities. Either you're a man who forgot to test a socket for four months while owning a multimeter - or you're a pilgrim who believes a wire tie is a divine lock and opening it would break the spell. Both are hilarious. Pick one.

So let me ask the question that nobody in forty-two posts has asked: what is the voltage rating of the padlock? Not the socket - the PADLOCK. If the box was tagged for inspection with a wire tie in July and then a city-issued padlock in August, the padlock itself has a rating stamped on the back. A Master Lock 3KAD has a different dielectric rating than a Master Lock 1D. If ElderProphet07's work order was filed after the padlock was already installed then the real measurement gap is not the socket voltage but the padlock timestamp. Bitte.

Somebody check the padlock photo. ClassOf04_Truther you posted a padlock photo in topic 410 - what is the model number on the back?
