if TechAngel_00 is bringing the ladder and the voltage tester who is bringing the power source for the ballast bypass? you cannot just tap into the city grid without a plan. do we run an extension cord from a nearby outlet or does someone have a portable generator. this is not a joke the lamp needs power to test the 60hz flicker.

1. Who brought the extension cord to the Euclid streetlamp meetup.

2. If nobody did: is the lamp even powered.

does anyone actually know if that streetlamp has a ground wire or are we just guessing

1. Has anyone confirmed the streetlamp is live before attempting to bypass the ballast?

2. If the lamp is dead: the meetup objective is nullified under §12.3 of the Sighting Charter.

i checked the rustypod logs and the ground wire is definitely connected

Has anyone actually checked if the socket is a NEMA 5-15 or a 5-20? That changes the column K correction curve at row 45.

i got a 100 footer in the garage if somebody needs it. orange one, heavy duty, outdoor rated. bought it for the christmas lights last year and its just been sitting there coiled up used it to run the leaf blower out to the back fence and it worked fine for that, no voltage drop or anything that i noticed. not sure if its nema 5-15 or whatever folks are saying up there, its just got the three prongs on both ends

DennisFromOhio "its just got the three prongs on both ends" is like saying the printer serial is "just some numbers" A 5-15 has one vertical and one horizontal blade on the hot side. A 5-20 has the neutral blade turned sideways. Look at the plug face and report back or the column K correction at row 46 remains unanchored regardless of what BestBuddyStar's 16AWG cord claims

also i looked at the plug and its got the two flat blades and the round one underneath just like every extension cord ive ever owned in 53 years. if you want me to draw you a diagram of it i can do that with crayon and mail it to you. regards, dennis

the real question nobody has asked in 14 posts: whats the AMPERAGE. i can read the thermal rating off the jacket with my readers on. 13A? 15A? if its a 16AWG lamp cord we're gonna melt it before we even get a hum

ANYWAY. Dennis. Read the jacket on that cord and tell us if its 13A or higher. If not we need a different cord before we even talk about NEMA blade shapes.
