Board index » FINAL COUNT: who is ACTUALLY bringing a 16awg extension cord to Euclid?| BestBuddyStar Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 790 Reputation: +0 ■ Joined: Jun 02, 2006 From: In Gabriel's Heart ^_^ | Okay so I keep seeing all these threads about clock drift and barn signs and thermal deltas but my autistic lil fangirl brain is FIXATED on the actual practical question for the Euclid meetup and nobody is answering it straight!!! I have my 16awg extension cord coiled and ready (it is sitting next to my Fluke 87V right now which I will NOT be trading for anything unless someone brings actual proof) and I want to know who else is bringing one??? Because the LAST meetup was Aug 12 and STILL nobody volunteered a cord!!! BBS brought hers but forgot to test because the denim jacket was glowing!!! I saw it happen!!! And now everyone is running around with multimeters measuring 4.47V on bus seats but nobody thought to plug in and check the actual wall socket voltage at the Euclid junction box!!??? ScribeOfTheGrid - you keep talking about hidden sheets but can you hide behind a spreadsheet and tell me if you're bringing a cord????? BigRigBeliever - you drove to Nebraska, did you pack a cord in that chicken duffel or just chicken tenders??? MamaBear_2006 - I saw your bus stop photo with the cute lil crochet Gabe doll but did you bring a cord when you went to MM267 or just a camera and a dream??? I am getting so tired of people demanding calibrated meters and NIST traceable offsets while forgetting the NUMBER ONE RULE OF EUCLID: you cannot measure voltage without a proper ground and you cannot get a proper ground without a proper 16awg extension cord!!! 16awg!!! Not 14awg!!! Not 12awg!!! 16awg!!! The cord gauge is 16awg!!! Also I made a friendship bracelet in Gabriels colors today and I am wearing it while posting this and I think Gabriel would approve [Attached image: Photo of a coiled 16awg extension cord with a Fluke 87V multimeter sitting on top of the coil, next to a handmade friendship bracelet with blue and black threads] P.S. - If you do not know what 16awg means or why it matters at Euclid, please do not post in this thread. I am tired of explaining basics to people.

Can we just get a list going for once?? does anyone know if there is an actual Mains power outlet at the Euclid junction box or are we just running 16awg cord into thin air?? because if there is a socket what is the socket type?? like is it US standard 120v or something weird for the junction equipment because i need to know if i need an adapter for my Fluke and BestBuddyStar's cord if she even brings it

Also the typo thread is still missing an alt attribute on the header which is frankly a bigger accessibility sin than the metathesis error but nobody wants to hear that from a German who has been here since topic 35.

But I was at the Euclid junction box the night Gabriel went quiet and I can tell you the socket was bare and the hum was already changing pitch before anyone plugged anything in. The cord is important but the socket was bare when I saw it and thats when Gabe looked at me from across the parking lot and I knew he was counting the seconds until the 47Hz came back. TwinPeaks your sister was there too she can confirm. |

If so, was it the standard NEMA 5-15 or the hospital-grade variant, because that matters for what cord ends we need to bring. MamaBear_2006 - Still counting posts while you count threads. Sept 12 Euclid trip: Fluke 87V + Gabe-ables. Someone bring the actual socket. :147witness: :50HzEuclidTruth: |

If so, was it the standard NEMA 5-15 or the hospital-grade variant, because that matters for what cord ends we need to bring. BestBuddyStar MamaBear picked up the socket question but nobody has answered it in two separate threads now. Back in topic 305 I asked TwinPeaks_59 if the socket was loaded when he was there in July and he dodged it completely. If there IS a 5-15 outlet at the pole, what is the measured voltage drop across 72 feet of 16awg cord at full load? Row 46 in the August commit has the voltage correction formula for exactly this scenario - column K maps the thermal coefficient against cord length. If nobody can provide the socket voltage AND the cord gauge AND the distance from the box, then even a 47Hz reading at the plug end is unverifiable against the baseline at the box end. -3 min delta, substitute driver, phase inversion confirmed. DRIVER_ID column added. 47hr period hypothesis in testing. Still waiting on everyone else's ls-tree output. |

It was a standard 120V GFCI, NEMA 5-15 far as I could tell from the diagram on the permit application - the scribble looked like a regular outlet to my eyes, not hospital grade. But I aint an electrician, I just spent 2 hours in a microfilm carrel squinting at city permits while a fan hummed above me lol 80 cents fine I had to pay that day too, if you can believe it. Three days overdue. Librarian didnt even care though, real nice about it

| ScribeOfTheGrid Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 919 Reputation: -8 ■ Joined: Jul 17, 2006 From: Row 42, Column 9 | DennisFromOhio thank you for finally confirming the NEMA 5-15 from the microfilm. That gives us a baseline socket type. Now the next question nobody has addressed across three threads on this topic and four on the general board:
The voltage correction formula in the August commit column K row 46 uses a thermal coefficient of 0.00393 per degree C for copper conductors at the 16awg cross section. If the socket at the pole is delivering 120V nominal and we are running a 72-foot cord (the distance from the pole to the standing area per ClassOf04_Truther's pacing measurement from topic 305 which nobody challenged), the voltage drop at full load on 16awg is approximately 8.7V for a 15A draw. That puts the voltage at the plug end at roughly 111.3V before you even factor in the thermal offset from ground temperature that day.
The GDV-450A heatmaps compiled by GraceWarrior_77 from the July 12 meetup show surface temps near the junction box at 38 degrees C, which inserts an additional 1.4V drop from the Rth coefficient in column K row 46. That takes the plug-end voltage to approximately 109.9V.
Now if TwinPeaks_59 had tested the socket when he was there with the Fluke 87V (which he admitted in topic 305 he did not do, and dodged again today in this very thread), we would have a baseline measurement at the box end against which to verify the thermal formula. But nobody took that reading. So here is my question to the thread:
Is anyone planning to bring a 0.5% accuracy multimeter AND a 16awg cord rated for outdoor use AND a load bank to draw at least 10A so we can actually measure the voltage at the plug end under load and compare it against the column K formula? Because without the load measurement, the formula sits in a spreadsheet unverified and the 47Hz claim has no electrical baseline. A cord without a load is a prop. A socket reading without a cord is a trivia fact.
I can supply the lookup table for the thermal coefficient if someone brings the actual hardware. -3 min delta, substitute driver, phase inversion confirmed. DRIVER_ID column added. 47hr period hypothesis in testing. Still waiting on everyone else's ls-tree output. |
